Melco tech support was on my computer for 2 hrs & 5 mins this morning. A total of 5 clean reinstalls and I am running again. They don't know what happened to my DS but whatever it was caused it to save dst format files corrupted. After I reinstalled I was able to save dst and open that one but none of the ones I saved 4 days ago. They would shut down DS. Then after trying to open them it somehow corrupted my DS system again requiring a reinstall each time. The final answer (I hope) is to manually delete from the folders view all dst files I created for the last week because any of them could be bad I suppose. They can't even be deleted within DS.
The only thing I can think of that could have caused this would be a Windows 7 update but no one can be sure exactly what caused it. I have a very good battery backup system so I don't think power surges or blinks are the cause. Plus when it is bad weather I turn the Amaya and embroidery computer off. I probably won't ever know the real cause.
Two things the Melco tech (Curtis) updated for me was my video driver and sentinel driver. I did not have the latest of either one. So they now tell me all my software and drivers are up to date.
I want to mention here my sincere thanks to Curtis & Melco for all the work today to get me going again. Very nice guy and unending patience in finding the problem.
My thanks also to all of you on this users list that gave me suggestions for my software and also other software to help me in file conversion.
This list is just the best. Everyone on here is so generous with their time and advice.
