I have a new PC with Windows 7 preinstalled coming next week. Finally upgrading from XP. Since I'm up-to-date on all versions, drivers (especially the GL open applications which DS and OS seem to really need), I'm thinking I should be good?? Any beta testers out there been runnning Windows 7 with the V9 software? Any advice?

I am running designshop 9/aos on windows seven. There isn't a compatibility issue. It works. The dongle isn't the problem - there does however need to be an updated dongle driver installed - but it's definately compatible.
DS7 should work with the updated dongle driver but AOS7 will not due to network stack issues.
That's a first hand report...

Yessir. It's a network driver issue. If I recall when it happened, the AOS wouldn't see the machines at all.
I need to test Design Shop 7 again but a while back, I ran it on windows 7 early on in the test cycle - but since moving to DS9, I don't have it loaded anymore after I moved to the final copy of Windows 7 when it was released to MSDN a few months ago.
BTW, for the record, I love windows 7.John Yaglenski

That's the problem I'm having with Windows 7. When going to "Tools" - "Options" - "Ethernet tab" the box for Adapter: is blank. Even updating my network card driver has no effect. How did you fix this problem?

I figured it out, after I right clicked the AOS icon and went to Properties > Compatibility then checked "Run this Program in compatibility mode" for Windows Vista, everything worked. Sometimes the most obvious things are the last place I look
Oh and yes I am using V 9.

Yes, only AOS needs to be run in compatibility mode, DS runs natively in 7. From what I have heard, Melco is holding off for 4-6 months on AOS running in native mode to make sure Microsoft doesn't change anything in the networking featureset - but they intend to get there. I also understand that internally, they have been running in compatability mode with no issues for a good number of months now and things are smooth.John Yaglenski

Some more windows 7 info:
** DesignShop v9 (9.00.098 or higher) will run in both 32 bit and 64 bit Windows 7 without a compatability mode. AOS v9 (9.00.099 and higher) will run in Windows 7 by following the instructions in release notes (101309.0) in compatibility mode.
** Users need to be installing AOS v9 9.00.099 or higher (there is no version higher than 9.00.099 currently)
** Melco does not support the use of DS 2007 and AOS 2007 in Windows 7John Yaglenski

Does anyone have the URL/website for the Dongle Driver update?
I ran into the ethernet not being recognized. I got tired of the old computer, so I bought an Acer laptop for it thinking that this would fix the problem, but no, It is running Windows 7. I used a new patch cord, but that didn't work. So hooked up the old cord.
Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

Acer laptop with windows 7
design shop 7
Just an ethernet cable from computer to XT (no hub) - this worked before.
Thanks all
