• Wood hoop

Any tips for hooping using the large wood hoop? I struggled with a Carhartt today--it occurs to me that the very fact that the wood is not too smooth helps to hold the item but man I couldn't get that hooped easily. Think I might have given up and taken it to my other machines with the large plastic hoops but since large jacket backs are one of the reasons I added to the Amaya to my "collection," my hubby and I refused to give up. But there's gotta be an easier way than for me and my not too small hubby having to push on it while the coat is on the floor!

Hoopmaster's Mighty Hoop. is the answer. They have several sizes. Like magic!

Split the bottom hem seam open so you can get the hoop back 'inside' the jacket and not hoop the liner...or...
switch to the Sanmar jacket-made for embroidery, better quality for 30% less...LOL...

Yeah- the "inner zipper" is GREAT, WHEN it's available, but otherwise, I say- stay on the floor to hoop if you have to- never done that, though- but have had my hands, stomach, ass, & various other body parts involved in hooping garments....whatever it takes-you KNOW!

THANK YOU for saying that! I thought I was the only participant in "extreme hooping".

Oh no - the large designs using wood hoops take extreme measures. I get everything lined up, push the bottom 2 corners in, have my husband reach around me to push the top 2 corners in. Plus a lot of grunting and groaning.

I put mine on the floor and use my right knee to hold the lower right corner and keep my right hand on the top while using my left hand to seat the lower left corner. Looks odd but it works for the large wooden hoop.

Let's see if I got that right. Husband reaches around you and then there is "grunting and groaning." Did I get that right?

That WOULD account for the little smiley face at the end of that e-mail..... we won't even go into how wooden hoops compare with washing machine wringers.....!!

Terri,
Sounds like there's a little "magic" in 'dem large wooden hoops too? Eh'??

When we've used the large wooden hoop, we also have to get into the grunt and groan position...so normally we do those jobs 'after hours' so we can lock the door and turn the lights down...LOL...

After this banter, the wood hoops will always give me a chuckle.
