  • X Motor Error using XT WACF

Just wondering if someone has had this problem. I am trying to put lettering on the side of a cap. I am using the XT WACF and when I try to do a trace, the machine goes clunk and I get the X Motor error.

I have used the XT WACF a lot but only for the front of the cap and this works fine.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some setting I need to change?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Amy in Indiana

    Dear Amy,
I am guessing that the clunk means the WACF is hitting something and that is why you are getting that message. Maybe try moving the lettering towards the center a bit.

I already tried moving it closer to the center. Now it is no where near of the hoop on the monitor. I still get the clunk when I do the trace. It moves counter clockwise and then "clunk" and I get the X motor error.

You said you have and Xt machine.is the cap driver one piece or two pieces?

If it is two pieces do you have Xt extended selected in your hoop selection or WACF.

You could try this: turn of the machine. Then manually move the hoop so that it is approximately centered. Then turn on the machine and see if things have come right. Worth a try. Sometimes it is like the poor machine just gets lost and doesn't know where it is. Had that happen to me once and turning it off, then manually moving the x and y to eyeball center did the trick.

          Good luck

Check to see if the bill clamp is hitting the cap driver. I had this happen to me the first time I ever did hats and forgot to put the bill clamp down and got an X axis error after a loud clunk.

Something I have gotten into the habit of....I always select the cap driver designation in the hoop selection and then senter it to the machine ....before.... ever attaching the driver to the machine.

There had been a couple of time that I had a large hoop(44x30) and it locked up the capdriver after selecting the correct cap driver and went to center the it to the machine.

Had this happen and found that the bill clamp arm got bent back and would not go past the sewing arm. Move the rack slowly turning the cap untill it is just above the sewing arm, if it will not clear, bend it forward untill it clears. check all thr cap hoops without a cap on it

I just wanted to let you guys know that after I got over being scared to death that I was going to do something to the machine. I got down to where I could see good and found out the part of the cap frame that holds the bill of the cap was bent at too great of an angle and it was hitting the rail of the cap frame driver. I bent the bill holder away from the rail and everything is working great.

Thanks for all your help. You guys are great.
