constant thread breaks

On occasion, when it's really dry with lots of static, I'll have problems with thread breaks (on designs that have sewn perfect in the past). I'd hold on to the old spool, then once it gets more humid test the design with the "old" thread.

For static, I have a spray bottle of purified water and a little fabric softener, which is used to spray the carpet and other cloth furniture in the embroidery room.

I was having lots of trouble with thread breaks and false bobbin breaks. I also noticed that when the thread broke it wanted to cling back to the machine. I tried dusting with static guard and that helped some but what has helped the most was that I dug out my small cool mist humidifier and that seems to of cured the problem. Cheryl

Terri I do the same thing...I have a spray bottle with water and fabric softener in it and it works great...I spray the carpet around the machine and also this helps to keep static down if you spray it on your socks in the winter time to keep from getting shocked when you touch something or someone...until next time...Jenny

I think my problem was the combination of static and different thread. The fabric sheets helped a little but I think I need a humidifier for dry spells. THANKS everyone for the help!

The issue of different threads still mystifies me. I have some cones of isacord that work beautifully, and some that just will not sew more that 1000 stitches without breaking. I cant figure out what makes difference....
