  • CHANGE VALUE of 'CURENT Z POSITION'

Machine idle 20 months, basic oil & lube maintainance, new needle and bobbin = worsening false and true thread breaks = check messages, find same as others, and advice noted.

So, my problem is that whilst checking out the different maintenance tabs, I accidentally changed the 'curent Z position' number, which I did not note, but think it was 21.??, and then '26.6' appeared, but the sewing out was woeful - all loose threading under all 7 letters that sewed out before i stopped the machine when I heard a squeaking-grinding noise.

When I L-click on 'Hoop Timing' the number progresses, but I don't know how to get it back to the origonal setting before I made my mistake.

I cancelled to exit the maintenace tab, but when I re-opened it, the new '26.6' was still showing.

    Any clues appreciated.

The current Z position you are changing has nothing to do with what is or may be going on with the actual sewing of the machine.

The 26.6 is the headup position of the machine. Altho most machines will show 26.8 or 26.9 or 27.0, I have seen machines that like to settle in on the 26.6 or 26.7....This number is the number of degrees of rotation from zero on the bobbin shaft.

We need to know a lot more information about the machine to arrive at any kind of diagnosis for you. How old is the machine? Is it a Big Red or an XT series?

When you say "basic" lubrication...that leaves a lot of wiggle room.....a major lubrication sequence should or needs to be preformed for a machine that was sitting idle for 20 months. Did you take out all of the threadfeed rollers and clean and re-lubricate both the threadfeed and pinch rollers? Depending on the age of the machine, are the threadfeed rollers the old style soft black ones? Are they yellow in color?Did you lubricate the X beam rails?

Did you check the hook timing?

How are the needles...orientation , burrs, etc?

What softwear and Version are you running? In this regard, how is the X axis cable tension?

    Lots of questions....
