  • Thread Break Sensor Not Working?

    Hi,
I recently had a malfunction with my motor & motherboard and had to replace both. I'm running an Amaya OS machine and they sent me an Amaya XT motherboard. I put the new board in and configured the machine. It runs perfectly fine until there is a thread break - the sensor is not registering that there is a break. It just continues to sew and spit out thread. As you can imagine, it is NOT econimical to sit and stare at the machine as it is sewing, anticipating a thread break. I have since put in a second motherboard (in case the new one they sent was malfunctioning) but it didn't help. Can anyone make any suggestions as to what my next steps should be? (Besides talking to the techs? I'm trying to avoid a very costly service visit...). Maybe someone else has tun into this problem? Thanks,

Heather, I don't have an XT, but if it has the tube on the front that the thread goes around, take hold of both ends and rotate it a little.

      Heather,

The first question to be asked is have you checked to see in the "Settings" tab ( in OS ), if the "bobbin detection" or "All thread protection" is checked or unchecked? If they are not checked , than if the thread breaks the machine will continue to sew as you have described.

I've definitely checked that "detect thread" is turned on. I really don't know what else to do.

Also - as for the tube that the thread goes around, I'd have to look at the machine again to be sure but I'm 99% sure that the tube is screwed in place...?
It's not an XT machine - it's an OS machine (the red one) but they apparently have no more OS motherboards, so they sent us an XT motherboard. I had to reconfigure the machines to 'trick' the mother board into thinking it was an OS or something, I had to change the machine type (to 192) in advanced machine config. I'm concerned that it's something really minute; some other way I have to 'trick' the machine...??

            Heather,
Give Melco a call and let them walk you thru a few items. It may be that you have a loose connector, loose cable, cable not plugged in or not making full contact, etc.....

Be cafeful turning the tube on the thread break sensor. There is a very small rubber ball on each end of the inside of the tube that sits in a small pocket. If you spin this tube, you run the risk of dislodging the rubber ball with possible malfuntion of the sensor resulting

I had worked on a machine where this same thing happened and after exhausting all other possibilities of what might be wrong, I reset the mainboard, rebooted the computer and the machine and ran the config wizard, after that the thread break sensor worked fine. I would talk to someone at Melco before doing this, having an XT mainboard in a standard Amaya, I would talk to tech support before doing this, there may be other things you have to do first.

As far as "tricking" the motherboard. There is no tricks involved. You are merely assigning the machine type so the motherboad will know what type of machine it is running on....

Please make sure you have "Force Download" checked, turn off and back on the Amaya. You can then uncheck the "Force Download" box.
