Hi Marcelle, I have Version 9.00.098...wonder if there is a slight difference in these versions.

Haven't a clue. But I was working with .047 and decided yesterday to upgrade because I know that one of the differences between .047 and .099 is that you can save in a lower version and that can actually be opened in that lower version. Couldn't before and that caused all kinds of problems for me as I digitize for others.

I found that rotating tool was the first of several glitches when I upgraded to OS 9...was told by someone here that the fix was in an upgrade-then was told by Melco techs there was no such upgrade.
I solved the problem by rotating the design/lettering in Design Shop 9 FIRST before exporting to Amaya OS...you can still read the lettering to change names in your 'property' menu without having to turn it rightside up.
So now all design work is flipped before it is sent to sew.

They do not "Upgrade" to fix a problem, glitch or whatever you wish to call it, within a specific Version of software. That is called an " Update".

This would apply to any patch to fix a bug in Version 9 until the next higher level comes out, i.e., Version 10 and then a charge would be applied to "Upgrade" to the next higher level.

I did the update this morning to 9.00.099 which now saves jpg format as if 3D is turned on even when it isn't which is great. Good quality jpg too. I found though that if I print from DS9 that the output is not 3D unless I turn on 3D so I can now print either way. Doesn't really matter on that.

GF, when you print and the print block comes up do you have 'print design' checked and 'actual size' selected? Just a thought, it might have gotten changed somehow.

What does it take to get a notice about updates? Nobody ever tells us anything...

                    Roland,

In Version 9, if you go to "Tools" and look in the dropdown menu, you will see a "Check for Updates". You MUST have an internet connection for this to automatically take place.

Both OS and DS have these auto download "Update" features in the tools menu.

The computer that runs the Amaya is NEVER ever hooked up to internet, not even a printer. We don't even have the ethernet cable run to that side of the shop. I don't even know how to configure or whatever it is you do to tell the computer to go or see the internet. My macs are the internet connection here...so that we don't get hit with viruses and bugs.
Anyway to get the update, download to a flash drive and bring it over to that computer? I do have one PC out in the shop that is hooked up to the internet only when turned on-because it was used to setup our digital printer. Although, it has never, not once, been able to download program upgrades (for the printer) something to do with the servor, not us...installation tech gave up after 2 hours trying to make it do it...ended up (like everyone else) sending us all upgrades (or updates) on CD disk.

I have the same issue with the rotation thing...sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I usually need to rotate it twice to make it be upside down and I have found that clicking too fast makes it disappear. I'll sometimes do what cjk does (click once, wait for it to turn, then click it again). I noticed that if you click it once, wait about 1 second and something on the screen will flicker then I'll click it again. It'll usually work unless I blink and click too soon :-P

                          Roland,

If you find out that there is a most recent update, whether you call Melco or hear about it from a friend, Melco can send you a disc but they might charge you for shipping.

Re: Rotating...I will click and wait then click again if that doesn't work I'll go in DS and rotate as suggested.

New glitch......wait for it....wait for it....

I can't apply hoops...it won't let me in by either right clicking apply hoop or by the drop down menu. Color menu is not coming up either. I guess I'll re-install?! Just downloaded update yesterday and that didn't help. ARGH!!

                              Tricia,

I lost my hoop database on one of the updates and couldn't bring up any hoops. A reinstall did not work that time but it may work for you.

Another interesting thing happened a while back, My computer was acting strange (more than normal). I installed a new hard drive and reloaded all the programs. When I got DS loaded and opened, all of the strange things that were happening with it were gone. No more locking up, I had hoops again, no more crashing. I suppose it may have done the same thing If I would have uninstalled and cleaned out registry entries in the old hard drive and then put a fresh install of DS in.
