  • DST Files and Trimming

    Hello everyone,

A customer gave us a dst file of his logo to embroider. The problem we're having is that we can't get the design to trim between elements or letters. There is a lot of small lettering that needs trimming and its impossible to do it by hand. I tried saving the file as an ofm and adjusted the "trim if less than" setting but no luck.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Probably the easiest way would be to recreate the lettering in Design Shop, add the trims between each letter and delete the lettering out of the DST file

The trims if greater than doesn't work on expanded elements which is what dst files are made of. Rod's idea is probably the easiest way. Converting to wireframe would take too much editing.

          Chris @ Kidsport,
Depending on the size of the letters involved with your design, there might be "jump stitches" between the letters. The Amaya software has a feature built in that will automatically insert a trim if the jump stitches are more than three in a consecutive order. You have the ability to change this value if you'd like. In Amaya OS, you click on "Settings", and then again the tab named "Settings" and here you will see "jump for trim" and a field with the number 3 in it.

This will not work for you if your letters are really small and there aren't any jump stitches between the letters. It all comes down to what your digitizer did from the start.
          Good Luck,
