• What would this be worth?

I am looking at selling an Amaya XT (2007), with complete Design Pro Plus software. I am looking to sell all hoops (20 in asst sizes, Amaya Micro Clamp set, Quick Change set, cap frame x 2), 5000+ designs, backing, thread (almost 200 5000 yd spools) etc. I am really looking to sell it as a complete package. The machine has less than 300 hours run time on it.

Any suggestions as to what I would ask for it?

My experiences DOES NOT mean it's what your machine is worth, but I'll share with you. I just bought a 2007 with Design Pro + and Amaya OS Flex with 7 plastic hoops, 2 large wood ones, Clamp set, dog collar frame, pocket hoop, the WACF driver with 2 cap frames, lots of backing (an inordinate amount, really, considering how little thread she had) and less than 1 million stitches. I picked it up from her. I paid $5000. (I then was able to transfer the software license and get the Windows 7 version of Pro+ for $796. So less than 6000 total...

Wow, I owe more than that on it. Do you mind me asking how many hours the machine has on it?

I haven't checked--but it's under a million stitches so it's not too many . I realize I got a fabulous deal and that's why I wanted to tell you it was my experience only. Unfortunately, for those wishing to SELL a used machine, Melco is offering some amazing deals that were the price much higher for used, you might as well go to Melco and get all the inherent help, etc. But it certainly doesn't hurt to post an ad and see what kind of response you get. I found mine on digitsmith.com. (She was asking much more but got no takers...)

I bought a machine only about 3 years back (non xt) for $4k and about a year or so ago another one for $3500k (another non xt).

Just sharing - both had fairly low stitch count on them and were in very good condition.

The first one came with cap driver and a bunch of hoops. The second came with cap driver and frames but no hoops.

Neither came with software.

Stitch This,
Yes, it's true that a machine does drop significantly in value after it's purchased new. Most are not concerned with this since the machine will be making them money. And most folks working out of their homes say they can pay an entire machine off in about one year's time.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate position of having to sell your machine before it has a chance to earn any real money, then you will find yourself in a pickle because now you are competing with Melco for buyers and you may not be able to offer a warranty or training like Melco can. So to compensate, you will have to come off the price until you start to hear back from interested parties.

Also just sharing but the last machine I bought (with hoops and cap driver/frames) was purchased for $4K about a year ago.

This recession will also play a part in how many people will be (or won't be) looking to expand their current machine count or how many will want to start a new business without the support of the mother company. If you have a good tech, maybe you could sweeten the deal you're offering by including training or a labor warranty which he or she would provide (and you pay for) so your buyer won't feel all alone after the sale.

The alternative is to keep the machine and let it try to make some money for you.

Hi,

Thanks for all the feedback, I think you have all helped me come to the decision of keeping the machine. I can't see getting rid of it for that little - I would be no better off than I am now. I really do love the machine and just thought that it would be a very expensive machine to keep if I wasn't doing the business full time - but after this information I am keeping it.
I am still going to look into the possibility of a partner. Thanks again. The help available in this group is very reassuring.
