  • Amaya XT versus Bi Red

I have an XT, and thinking of adding another machine. Would I be dissapointed with a Big Red?

The Big Red is the first in the line of Amayas. They work basically the same as the XT and the XTS. The new ones have some additional features that are always fun to have but you have to consider the additional cost. I am assuming you would get a Big Red from a previous owner and it will be less expensive. If you are just doing runs and need help with that you should be ok. The XT and XTS have a smaller bobbin area and have lazer alignment. If you aren't looking for the additional features you might look at the Amaya Bravo but check the features you are needing.

One of the big differences between the XT series and the Reds is the use of optical laser sensors on the Color Change and Home index positions of the needlecase( Big Reds only ).If these were not cleaned and maintained on a regular basis, real problems could result...dropped needlebars being one of them. Other than that the Reds are good machines. I run 4 machines, 2 XT's, one pre XT, and one Big Red. A pre-XT is Red and White but has the round sewing arm and no optical sensors on the color change and home positions and uses a different trimming system than the Reds. Just a XT in drag......

The XT series use encorders attached to the stepper motors that allow the computor to memorize the exact needle position and home position of the needlecase electronically. This was a major improvement over the optical laser system.

As far as getting a Bravo to compliment your XT, be aware that the Bravo is not designed to be "networked" together with another Bravo or the Reds, XT's and the XTS series of machines.

I may just stick with the XT, just to keep everything simple.
Thank all of you for your input.
