I am looking for someone who either has some experience with heat presses and can get me up to speed on doing transfers. My phone # is 508-864-4737. Thank you in advance.

Best to just ask the questions you have here...

There are 2 yahoo groups for hot pressing I have found very valuable:

For Sublimation:
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/conde_sublimation/

For other types of transfers:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Heat_T...ktop_Printers/

These are invaluable for anyone who has heat press questions.

I've been heat pressing 3 types - sublimation, laser jet and for darks. These 2 places have answered every question!

Good luck!

I think you'd be suprised the expertise here - many of us (myself included) have heat presses (3) and dye sub printers (1) - so if there's a question you want to ask here, my guess is there is someone who will know the answer or point you towards a resource like Jill.

George Knight, HIX, and Stahls are some of the most popular brands. Like John said, it helps to know what is you want to know about them.

I have a question. What is a dye sub printer? I just bought a heat press as well and would like to add this function to my embroidery. Where is the best place to get transfers? Can I send artwork out and get transfers made? Will transfer last as long as screen printing? I have a DTG printer but only does light colored shirts. I love it but looking for a way to do designs on darks shirts as well and I was thinking tranfers might be the answer.

thanks

Dye Sub inks are translucint. So best on white, light colors come though.
I saw in a a print mag- Brother has riged a slikscreen frame to print a base white or additional spot color to their DTG. Looked like a good idea.
conde.com ask for Claudia. they can make the transfers for you as well as they supply inks, paper, blanks. The dye works with polyester. so a 50/50 (my personal fav - Jerzee 29M) or 100% poly - the new dry release shirts - They last as long and in some cases longer. Better then ink-jet transfers. I had a silkscreen/embroidery shop in SW FL for 15 years.
