Pantone Goe

A customer just gave me color specifications with the new Pantone Goe system. I have not been able to find a conversion to Pantone Coated. Does anyone know if there is a conversion tool available? Have not had time to do significant research yet. Thanks.

Very, very few thread colors are Pantone matches...and customers don't realize that! They think you can magically reproduce any color they bring in. Best you can do is have them bring in a color print of their logo or design, and hold it against your thread chart samples and let THEM pick the closest color thread. That way if it doesn't look right, they can't blame you! Just in the direction of the pattern of a fill-that color can change from reflected light!

Have to agree with signman - let the customer come into your shop and choose for themselves. Folks who are picky about pantone really need to do that and understand that thread is never an exact match.

Filtec a few years ago told us they were working on a thread line that would match pantone colors. My guess is since it never happened, it just wasn't where they needed it to be.

Thanks. I generally try to do that with the customers. However, this is for a promotional products job to print a logo on golf balls. But the answer that I was looking for is... if you register on the Pantone website, there is a conversion tool there!

Just did a google on the system and went right to the pantone website- the GOE system was released in 2007! So it is already 3 years old. Basic info I read says it is based on the original Pantone system and incorporates those colors, just has renumbered them.
I have yet to see any of my ad specialty suppliers post that they are using the Goe system-just the standard Pantone (PMS) colors. So unless you are printing the golf balls yourself-have the supplier go by the standard pantone chart if you have it...I am quite certain that the suppliers are 'large' enough they can afford to buy the new chip charts and formula charts.
