  • Advertising using the USPS

I'm looking to drum up some more business and was wondering if anyone has done marketing through the post office mailing some type of advertising. If so, was it successful and what did you send out? Flyers, postcards, catalogs, etc?

    Thanks

    Steve~

I made up some postcards targeting certain types of business and got 1 response from about 300 postcards but do to the economy no sale...

I am going to send out an email flyer to my past clients and hopefully that will do better.

    Good Luck!

Thats what I'm afraid of. I was looking at sending out about 1000 postcards or flyers to businesses within a couple zip codes of me but would like to hear from other people that have tried this as well. Successful or not.

My ONLY successful mailing was through the chamber of commerce...since they have a mailing list of 250+ 'local' businesses and a master list of 750 (outside of town businesses that register for Home Show, etc.) For the cost of their postage only I had different sale flyers (I bought from some of my ad specialty lines cheap) and a trifold for us once, I was doing a mailing every month. Chamber had never thought of it...and they get bulk non-profit rates! One order of 500 coffee mugs paid for 6 months of mailings PLUS profit left over.
It didn't get response at first, took a few months and then calls started to come in. One flyer was a listing of ad specialty stuff on sale for the entire year-some businesses did hold on to it!
Now the Chamber had other companies that jumped in doing the same thing so they will include a 1 page insert with the monthly newsletter for $25 flat rate! (This is for the 250 local) and they will bulk mail to the full 750 in an envelope for around $75 or so. Can't beat that!
Nothing else worked-gave up all yellow page ads except the 'free' listing over 8 years ago.
