  • Thinking of purchasing an AmayaXT

Hi - We're expanding our business and looking into the purchase of an AmayaXT. What do you think are the advantages over a "traditional" embroidery machine such as Toyota, SWF, Barudan, etc.? Looking for feedback. Thanks!

    Jacquie,

I have not been in the business that long, so I can't speak from the depth of experience that others can on this board.

I purchased 2 XT's in Feb and I am very pleased so far. The Speed, the portability, the Modular flexibility, and the Auto-Tensioning is what pushed me over to the Amaya XT. I had considered a 2 Head Tajima as well as a Toyota before making my decision.

There are pro's and con's to the different machines out there. Do your homework, investigate, talk to owners of different brands, and make a decision based on your needs and goals. You have to be comfortable with your purchase, and it has to meet your needs....not mine!

Melco training has been excellent, the support has been very good also. I have about 6 million stitches logged on both machines so far and I have not had any technical issues or down time. I hope to purchase 2 more machines as my business grows over the next year.

A major consideration also which pushed me over to Melco was the Proximity to Training and support. Tajima is half way out on Long island and Toyota has only a small representation out of Newark, NJ with their main facility in Tampa, FL

    hope this helps.

      Jackie,
Don't waste time on a "traditional" machine as you call it. We had 3 toyota machines and withing 6 months of getting the Amaya - sold the Toyota ones off. Wasn't worth the hassle. We just stopped using the toyota machines because the Amaya was so much better in every way. Plus, service on the Toyota was something that you normally had someone else do and had to wait on their schedules. You did normal oiling and hoped it was enough and maybe not too much? The Amayas just don't have those issues.

I have to agree 100 percent with my nearby neighbor Barbara. The Amaya is the next generation of embroidery machine. Melco caught the competition complete unaware when they came out with this new design. Don't waste your money on a machine that will require constant attention from the operator plus expensive upkeep. I have had my 3 XTs since December and production has doubled over my old single and four head machines.

Ease of use was perhaps the biggest selling point. The machine is also easy to maintain. There is no mystery involved unless you count the crummy pictures of the steps . I like the OS and how that works. The XT is my first commercial machine and I had it running flawlessly right out of the box. The first design I sewed had 20,000 metallic stitches. I figured if it could do that without incident it could anything.

            Jacquie:

We just purchased our Amaya about a month ago and we are so happy with it. We were using home embroidery machines and since getting the Amaya we have not used the other machines at all.

I did alot of looking and asking questions about the different machines out there and not seeing them run was a bummer before we purchased however with that said we went with the Amaya because of the speed it can do, the ease of use, tech support online and via phone and we wanted to make sure their was a technician close enough to us as well in case we needed it.

It has not been all roses as when we got our machine it was damaged in shipping however we called Melco and they got the tech out here and new parts and was up and running in no time. Support is awesome here and that is a huge thing to consider when looking at the machines.

Oh, did I mention the hats are easy to do on this machine. If you do alot of hats really consider this machine as it is really easy to do hats on.

Ok, I will shut up now as I could go on and on and on...just look at your business and deside on what you want to be able to do and figure out what machine is right for you.

            Good Luck!

Thanks for your input everyone! We are going to see another demo, hopefully next week, at a location in PA. We are really encouraged by your responses, especially about support. Thanks! Have the best day ever!
