  • Best metallic thread for Amaya XT?

Any recommendations for metallic thread that you have found works best on Amaya XT? I haven't had any demand for metallic thread until now. The gold metallic thread that I received orginally with my machine runs great (no longer available). Is there another brand that is just as compatable?

    Thank you.

I have used several and the only one that hardly ever breaks and look BEAUTIFUL is Robison Anton. I didn't have to change my needle, or slow the speed or digitize specially for that. LOVE IT! Here is a link to the picture of a design I digitized and use RA J Metallic thread.

99% of our embroidery is metallic and we use YLI metallics. I received a sample from RA and I'm almost sure it's the same Japanese import that YLI uses except YLI is cheaper. I began using them long before the internet so I always call them at (803)985-3100. They do have a site at YLICorp.com, but it is oriented to the home sewer and doesn't show their wholesale price list (which is about 1/3 the price). You also can get huge cones from them at great prices. Very nice people; you'll probably speak to Vickie.

              I am with you
I have not ever been able to get a project done using YenMet.

RA would be my second choice. It sewed very well.
but not without any issue like superior.
I did not have to changge needles speed or trims with superior.

I can tell you that I don't recommend Gutermann or whatever brand it is that MadeiraMart is selling! I've had trouble with both of those, although I'm hammering through since I had to buy the enormous cones to get the colors that I needed.

Greenwing do you use superior thread for everything? Can you buy this wholesale? How are their prices? I buy RA wholesale and I think I pay $6.10 for the 1000y for J Metallic and $24.55 for the 5000y. for the superbrite poly I pay $2.95 for the 1100y and $7.75 for the 5500y

I don't know if it's still available (bought our cones awhile back), but QUEEN MON-REX is fantastic metallic thread! This brand was originally recommended by the Amaya training instructor, and he ran it at high speed and it performed flawlessly. Haven't used it a lot, but it has worked great every time we've used it.

Keep in mind that your design may need to be modified &/or digitized for the specific use of metallic thread since it's thicker than standard 40-weight thread, and doesn't necessarily lend itself well to all applications. In some instances, you may need to use a needle specific for metallic thread (they tend to have a larger eye) if you're having problems sewing with it.

                    Hope this helps.
