  • Horse blankets

New client, head of a horse/buggy group. Looking for inexpensive fleece horse blankets-or a regular fleece 'stadium blanket' large enough to cover a horse's ass...(not me, the horse...LOL) I showed her the blankets I get from Sanmar with the nylon backing and she loves them-but they aren't large enough. Anyone have a source for larger 'windproof' fleece blankets, or very inexpensive horse blankets? These are just for while the horse stands and cools down after a ride, not for wearing around the barn yard.
    Thanks
    Roland

Have you thought about paying a seamstress to sew the edges of two together? this would put a seam
right on the horses top but would probably cover both sides, but might not be cost effective?

    just a thought

Have you tried www.doversaddlery.com, item#x1-24510a, Northwind fleece sheet. $49.90

Or - purchase the fleece and nylon by the yard. have a quilt shop sew them together?

Hard to buy it from dover when the customer can also buy at that price...doesn't leave markup room for profit!
BUT if you go to that website, they charge $16.90 for a MONOGRAM...just to keep in mind for pricing up custom embroidery!
I'm thinking of having her take one of the sanmar TB85 fleece and nylon blankets to her horse and see if it fits! Even charging her retail, it's half the price of the dover blankets...

Some companies will sell wholesale, have you asked? I've never done a horse blanket, how big would the live sew area of the embroidery be? I'm a city girl in Tucson...(Former sailor from SW FL)

You could use a Snuggy and then there would be a place to put the tail.

Here in Costa Rica I make embroidered saddle pads. Trophy Blankets for fund Raisers. I am fortunate to be able to get thick felt material and I embroider a top and do a foam insert stitch around it and seal the raw edges with a double binding.
