  • Youth hats & horse blankets

I know-I'm supposed to be taking a break...LOL...but someone has to work.
I am looking for YOUTH size unstructured hats, similar to the Sanmar CP84 line. Need only a couple dozen for a horse group by the end of the month.
Also, someone here specialized in doing horse blankets, saddle covers, etc. and I could use some advice on those. Youth horse group is getting some for their banquet awards and I will be embroidering on them. So any help would be great! They have a supplier but I'll do just the logo work.
    Thanks!

I have used Otto's unstructured youth caps before they seemed to sew fine.I don't know if they are the same as Sanmar's ,I don't use them. As for horse blankets have you asked Wilbur?

Do you have the # for the Otto youth? I went through the catalog and didn't find any besides the foam ball caps. I have the 08 catalog, never got an 09.

I don't even call them anymore-I can do it all with email.
They are a great company to do business with-never had a problem.

            Roland,

If you need some tips on the horse blankets and saddle stuff, give me a call or drop me a private message. We do quite a bit of that stuff for the 4-h clubs and horse ranches around here.

              Steve,

I would appreciate any and all information and tips you can give me on doing Horse Blankets...we did two for a lady last Christmas and they turned out fine but I would appreciate any tips that will help us in the future...we do some work for a Western Store here and some of their employees and customers and I know we may have more requests on Horse Blankets near Christmas...A friend needed some embroidery on some Horse blankets a month ago and when she came over I told her we couldn't put the embroidery up high on the blanket like she wanted...I told her we could do it lower in the middle nearer the edge or on the hip area...she said there was another embroiderer in her area that told her he could do it so I suggested she get him to do it for her because I wouldn't be able to get the thick blanket hooped or sewed where she wanted it...after she took it to him he told her the same thing I did..she was upset but let him do it anyway...time was running out for her she needed it by that weekend...I know next season she may ask us to do the work for her club...sorry this is so long but again any tips would be appreciated...you can write to me off the list if you need to...again thanks...Jenny

I do a lot of horse blankets for awards and one of the reasons you would not want to do them near the top is that the horses topline is not straight (it dips a little) and the area you would be doing might not lay totally flat. The only place that I embroider is the area that would lay across the middle of the horse's barrel.

I have done winter horse blankets and have put the design on the lower part of the shoulder, the hip, and the barrel with success. Haven't had a request for anything as high as the topline so not much help there.

Any help or tips on doing the horse blankets such as hooping and acti feed is appreciated...we had to work at trying to get this right before we did the ones last year and we had to put the acti feed on 35 for the ones we did...the ones we did were a loose weave type blanket...but just thought that any one that has knowledge in this area could help us when we are asked to do more later
                      ...Thanks, Jenny

                        Jenny,
Just make sure you take the blanket off of the horse before you embroidery them!!! The horse will appreciate this.

                        Seriously,
Sorry, but I can't say I've seen a horse blanket on an embroidery machine as of yet. Hopefully someone else will have some good input.

                            Yes Jenny,
I too love to laugh! Up until the point I pee on myself. Then it's not so funny and your friends walk away.

I would have hoped someone would have responded by now. Where are all you horsie fans out there???

BTW... How about them SAINTS?!? OH YEAH!!!
                            7 and 0 Baby!!!!!

                            Good Luck Jenny.

                              Dear Jenny,
Just trying to clean out posts and came across yours. We have done a few horse blankets and have used a slimline frame to hold it. Trying to put that much thickness into the normal hoop is too difficult and will not guarantee that it will stay put. I usually use a wider letter with an edgewalk and zigzag with the column on top. Hope this helps.
