Has anyone tried thread from Metro Embroidery Thread? Their ad was on the Google Ads banner at one time this weekend and I clicked. They have a sale... 5500 yd spools $2.25, 1100 yd spools $0.75 and an additional 15% off if you spend over $100.

I have not tried them but that sounds way to cheap to run without issues at 1500spm. I would call them and say you are looking at switching thread companies and see if they will send you a free sample to test out. Some companies do this and some don't.

I bought 6 sm spools of Metro- 3 reg and 3 variegated. It was interesting that the variegated was 100% poly! As far as I know, they can't make variegated from poly, just rayon. Interesting.

So, today I did a small design. Did Palms with the variegated green (which has too much very light green for me, but is OK). I ran the design at 1400 but it only went 1200 st/min. Ran beautifully. No thread breaks - no nothing!

On the basis of this one small test, I'd buy more.

        Hi Juli,
Madeira has 10 variegated thread colors that are polyester. Color numbers 1600 - 1609.
It's nice to know that there are others.

Remember that when it comes to thread quality, it's not only the sewing process that one must consider. Colorfastness (if and how much it fades) and it's ability to hold up to wearing of the garment and even washing of the garment.
Personally, if I was going to give these folks a try, I would embroidery some things for myself and the kids and rough them up a bit in daily use and after serveral washings, see how they fair.
Try doing some yard work.... the excercise will do the body good.

(I am currently doing this with some shirts that were printed using a garment printer.)

Has anyone already tried the washing and wearing test for the Metro thread?

Their plastic sided bobbins are a great price. Has anyone tried their bobbins?

              Hi Marcelle,
I brought all 116 large spools back in May. I love this thread anD I have reorderd some colors I use the most of. All my machine run fantastic using this thread. When I went to look at the amaya xt to see it and watch it run I brought some metro thread with me and funny the arc she had on the machine broke a few times and the metro running at 1400 never broke. Cant beat the price either. Cant wait till they increase there colors. I have bought some of there varigated but I have yet to use it. I have 3-4 big spools from madeira. The sheen on the metro is awesome. I have not used there bobbins. I have washed things many times no problems so far.
              Hope this helps

                Susan,

Thanks for your reply. They have a great special right now so I am going to try their thread and bobbins too. Specials are always a good time for me to try new things so if it doesn't work out I haven't lost so much money.

Your positive email really helped me decide to go ahead and try their products.

I visited your website. Very nice job on your digitizing of the little dog's picture.

                Thanks again,

Could you post what supplier you use for the Metro thread, please?

                  Thank you,

                    The website is:

                    http://metroem.net/

It says the last day of the Labor Day sale is today. Earlier I ordered the $100 special that includes the full set of 116 small spools of solid colors and 55 small variegated spools. The 15% off does not apply to that particular deal. I also ordered their white plastic sided bobbins @ $19.95/box and black plastic sided at $21.95/box. Looks like the white bobbins go back to regular price of $31.00 tomorrow.

Thank you Marcelle. I ordered black and white thread and a box of the plastic sided bobbins. I will try the washing test when I receive the thread. I have been using ARC thread since I started the embroidery busines and never had any problem with it. I appreciate you told me on time to be able to get the sale price which was excellent.
