I have digitized artwork for a woman who is taking mock-ups to China to be reproduced. She is staying there to make sure the colors used on the mock-up samples are the same ones used by the Chinese factories. My question is; is there a universal number used globally for ARC thread since I doubt if they sell ARC in China? Question #2; she paid me to digitize the designs, but would most of you charge another fee to have it used by another embroiderer for mass production? She plans to use my services long term for future creations. THANKS Debbie in Indiana

ARC color numbers used in China?

ARC is pretty much a Melco exclusive. And there is no universal number for the thread colors-some are 'close' but no exact matches. She is going to have nothing but trouble trying to match it.
You should switch over to Madeira threads-that line is worldwide and has been universal to any company I've done business with-so they always have the exact thread color you want.
If you are making a good $$ doing the digitizing, then you really can't charge another fee UNLESS 'YOU' are coming up with the designs and artwork-if so-YOU own the copyright for that and the right to charge a 'royalty' to use it. (Several long articles/threads in Sign business publications about this). If it's her artwork-then just make sure you are getting paid enough for the time and effort-charge too much and you'll just be replaced by any number of commercial digitizing shops.
