  • Varsity Cheerleading clothes

I am working with a large school on several items for their cheerleading squad (over 100 girls). They want Varsity brand jackets so I called to open an account with Varsity and was told they don't discount to anybody, no matter what. I have to pay retail ($100+ per jacket). Does anybody know if this is fact or have any other suggestions?

    thanks

Yes, they do not sell wholesale and they are very expensive. Schools are used to paying these high prices but they normally order direct cause there is not really any room to mark them up. Trying to put logos on cheerleading tops is not fun either. My schools usually have Varsity do the logos on the uniform tops but there have been a few cases wher varsity messes up and my coaches get them blank and ask me to do them. Not fun. If you are not doing the uniforms and just jackets or warm-ups maybe you can switch them to a different brand such as Soffe or TOnix or Holloway, they all have nice stuff and its alot less expensive.

I ran into this several years ago trying to get some of the chenille letters for our local band...and Varsity said they don't discount to anyone, don't go through dealers, etc. because they see no need to since they 'own' the market! Why cut their profit line for anyone else?
As Aaron mentions-it could be trouble trying to embroider on their stuff...so I personally would either talk the customer into another line-or tell them I can't touch the stuff and they are on their own!
Nothing you can do...but try and convince them they are PAYING to wear that brand name!

Varsity has the market becasue they make everything easy for coaches in the beginning. Just pick out the items and designs in the catelogue. Looks easy but when it comes to being on time and customer service they are terrible. Some things have to stay with Varsity like dress uniforms but most other stuff doesn't. Start in January and get on the Varsity web page and try to get items that will match closely. You will be amazed at the price difference. Make offers to coaches really early and you never know how much of a difference it can make. Go to the school and offer to deliver and be on time. Varsity does neither after the sale. Margaret
