  • Alphabet Editor

Hi all! Hope everyone is doing great!
I was wondering if anyone here has tried to use the Alphabet Editor? I would like to create a new alphabet (using a TTF) but the help file on it is really not all that useful. Anyone have an idea what the steps are that you would take to create new letters for a new alphabet? Thanks!

Have been trying to edit some lettering, but I NEVER get the option to save the lettering or restore in Alphabet editor. Please, some input?
    Thanks! Edna

If there is an answer to this, I would like to know too. I ended up creating an alphabet by editing a TTF, then saving each letter as an design and copying and pasting them just like any other group of elements into the new designs - very tedious; plus there is no way to use all the features on the lettering tab.

The answer is Tools/Alphabet Editor. You will have to consult your book or the Help files, but you can bring up a FILE of a saved letter, copy and then in Alphabet Editor, paste it. You have to get it in the right place, at the right size, etc. It is MUCH better to size all letters in each individual file before copying them into the Editor.

Also, you can, using the Alph Ed, bring a TTF into it, one letter at a time and then edit it there. I believe that when you initiate the Editor you have to give the font another name and all letters get automatically saved when you move on to another letter.

Another idea is to take all edited letters fro all the files and put them all into just one file. That way copying and pasting is much simpler than opening each separate file as needed.

Using the Alphabet Editor is a big long job considering there are more then 70 letters, numbers and punctuation marks.

And, just to remind you, not all font are equal. There are good fonts, and then there are fonts that looks like a 3 year old made them. I have even seen fonts that have crossed lines! That can really screw up the look when embroidered!

Hope this helps and have fun,

Juli, I was using the Alphabet Editor to edit the TTF, followed the instructions in the help file, but never got the option to save or restore the letter. It already comes in at the 1" size, I don't mind doing all the letters (don't need the characters) but am also having the program shut down after the first or second letter because it hangs and stops responding. What version is everyone using? I have 9.00.101 with Windows 7. Quite frustrating
