  • Barcode scanner

Anybody ever use this feature? Looks like might be a good idea setting it up and using it.

I think he Disney fulfillment center uses it. It is primarily for big operations. I think it is way overkill for most of us.

I have a scanner but have never hooked it up.

However, I was definately interested in the possibility of having a design printed out in a clients file with a barcode on it, scanning it and having it load it into the OS automatically.

Scanners are cheap now so I could see it being useful...

You can buy a decent handheld scanner for under $100. Just make sure the cable is long enough since the cable length seems to vary.

I thought it would be a nice feature to use. Print out your designs with the barcode and just scan the ones your customer chooses.

So, does the bar code thing come with DS v9 pro Plus? I think there is something else that need to be bought and installed.

Other than having the scanner (and possibly a bar code font installed to print the codes) I think that's it. Would love to see a video tutorial on setting this up correctly.

I have a pretty good relationship with a few folks there - maybe I can get some answers.

It was nice when Jeff Banks was alive and posting. He really did a lot for Melco and this board. Since he passed, Melco has vanished and their customer support has gone downhill pretty quick. As much as I would like to support American made products, I'm about to get another machine and it won't be a Melco. Competitors have been making more products and doing a better job advertising them. You never saw an EP machine at shows and they wonder why they wouldn't sell. I still haven't seen a Bravo at a show either. The marketing departing at Melco needs to go.
Melco is far beind in embroidery technology as well. Many other machines are wireless and USB which Melco is ethernet only.
They have a alot of improvements to make if they want to be competitive with Tajima and SWF which are kicking Melco's butt in sales now

There is many different ways you can use the barcode system in AOS for. We have also made improvements on the barcode system over the last couple of versions of AOS. If you would like to email me or post on here what version you have and what specifically you are trying to do I would be more than happy to assist you with this information.

                      Thanks,
