  • Is OS upgrade the only option?

I have OS7, running on Vista. The computer is about to bite the dust...I'm looking at replacing it, but the main thing I use it for is to run my XT. I understand that OS7 won't run on Windows 7, is that correct? Is my only option to buy a new computer and upgrade my OS? I am mainly a hobbiest, with a SMALL business and really hate to spend so much money. I haven't called Melco, but saw somewhere that the upgrade would cost around $800?

    Help! Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I am wanting to speak with Kevin at KTech services. I have an Amaya machine that I bought used and do not have the license for the parallel dongle. My laptop crashed and I have a different laptop I want to use, but it does not have a parallel port, it only has usb ports. I don't have the money to re-register with Melco and buy two Usb dongles. Can you help me?

I don't know what's going on with the computer. It is several years old and has gotten slower and slower the last few months, to the point where it will barely run OS and my 3D software at the same time. I had it checked by Geek Squad back in the summer for virus removal so I don't think that's the problem. I was hoping to get an inexpensive computer rather than spending money on repairs for the old one, but if I have to buy a new version of OS, then that's getting too pricy.

Merlin, sorry, I'm in NC, a long way from Wisc!

I just ran into this very same issue. My husband works in the software business and we ordered a new computer w/the XP mode, as well as Windows 7. My V7 would not work on it no matter what he did. I contacted Gerald on Friday and Melco is having an "end of the year sale" on the V9 right now. You may want to check on that. I think he told me it typically sells for $899. Good luck! It is so frustrating when this happens b/c, like you, I'm a small business and the expense of a computer and new software was not what I needed right now!
