  • AOS 10 latest revision

    Hi everybody!
Well, I jumped in with both feet and upgraded to DS Pro+ (from regular DS)!
I'm trying to gradually do most work on my XTS instead of my Brother PR-620.
Just to let OS Ver 10 users know, I received the most recent revision on a DVD from Mark Gentry at Melco. He said the update wasn't available online yet, but I was having so much trouble with TT fonts loading, he mailed me the DVD.
Just installed it -- haven't used it yet.
    Thanks! MJ

Just got an email from Melco saying that AOS V.10 is available. I'm running v9.00.099 and am happy with it. The only thing that sounds interesting to me is the Real Hoop Limit Detection http://melco.com/amaya-operating-sys...-now-available.

Does Real Hoop Limit Detection work with the laser or is it just a superimposed oval graphic over the hoop on the screen? I don't know how this would work with other non-Melco hoops (i.e., Mighty Hoops). I've created hoop definitions http://www.amayausers.com/boards/cgi.../2.html#000021 in my AOS for all my Mighty Hoops which let me know when the limits have been detected. I have been using the six different sizes of my Mighty Hoops 95.0% of the time for all my hooping needs for the last year and a half.

So I'm wondering if there are any benefits to V10 other than just upgrading to the latest version.

I sent an inquiry to Melco to see what it would cost to upgrade.

    Thanks,
    Ed "Kanga" Roux

      V. 10 solved the TTF files not loading for me.

They also did this: "Acti-Feed Improvements
Thread feed gear clicking during needle changes has been dramatically reduced." which helps with the gears making noise when changing needles (so you don't eventually break them.)

Everytime I click on check for updates it always says "searching for internet conection" and then it says "no conection found." Does anyone else have this problem?

It really does not matter, Melco does not have the auto functioning as yet.

Called them and reported that I have never had an up date and they told me then and sent a CD.

But to answer your question mine just reports there is none avail. it has always said that even back when there was.

This is refering to V9 Maybe (doubt it) they have it working for V10....

Don’t know for sure, but DS and OS may be using the same port to look for an Internet connection that it uses to communicate to your machine. If you’re using a wireless connection to access the internet, that maybe the problem.
In my case I was using two network cards in my computer, one using a crossover cable connected to the Amaya and the other connected to a DSL router. When I checked for updates, I also got the “no internet connection found”.
I changed the set up, ditched the crossover cable and the second network card, direct connected both the computer and the Amaya to the router and the problem went away.

Like I said, I don't know if that's the problem or the solution, just relaying my experience.

              I'm using V9 on a 64bit Windows 7 computer.

Got my 3 XTS mid November of last year. It came with Flex v10 and DSP+ V9. The Hoop limit is pre-programmed for most if not all types of hoops in the market. I did not check for Magna hoop though. Slimline is still there. True type font still crashes. Still have to do the fonts through Corel and export as eps and import by DSP+. Same as everybody, I couldn't get any internet updates if there's any. Is Melco always like this? I mean, are they really slow with updates? I feel that they overpromised the softwares' features' but underdelivered with the actual product because it kept on crashing.

You need to have Melco send you the latest revision of V 10 on a DVD. They haven't fixed every single bug, but the one that was the biggest hassle for me was AOS crashing when you use TT fonts. I called and told them (often) about TTF making files not able to load, and they sent me the latest Version of 10 on disk.
You just have to be a squeaky wheel (but be polite, LOL)

Can you purchase just Amaya OS V.10 from Melco? the reason I ask is I currently have 4 EP1s that I want to hook up to a PC and need to buy the PCI board from Melco for $350. I also need Design Shop Lite which is a stupid $995 from Melco. DS Lite comes free with OS10 and am wondering if it is cheaper to go that way.

I am currently running V9 OS and V9 Design Pro +.
Does anyone know the cost of the upgrade and if it is worth it? I did not feel V9 fixed many of the issues.
I wish they had training Disc that you could actually learn something from.????

Also when I insert a font, a lot of times when I try to adjust it, it deletes the stitches and just shows the underlay. I guess this is the AOS crashing that people have spoken about. It is very frustrating.

What exact Version number do you have of each? (OS and DS) What exactly do you mean when you say "insert a font"? Are you talking about editing in DS or what shows up in OS?

MELCO is terrible at updates. Since I got my software I have sent them several emails letting them know DS crashes when batch converting to most formats which is my BIGGEST issue, every time (for almost 3 years now) they tell me they are working on it which is BS, because they dont care, I had to puchase software to do this which was less than $150. So if there is a software out there that costs only $150 CAN'T Melco buy that technology form someone else? it is ridiculous.
As for the TTF I have no issues while converting and am worried to upgrade because I've heard horror stories about upgrading and then the software doing bad things that was not doing before.I am currently using DS 9.00.099
