When I copy embroidery files from my Windows 7 computer to my Windows XP computer I find that additional files are created with an 's' on the end of the extension. I can't open them and the tiny little icon they show is the Windows 7 icon. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Better even, how to I stop it from happening?

What format are you saveing as?
    for example,
If your saving to PES format DS creates 2 files a name.pes & name.pess which is where it dumps the extra information that can't go in a pes file from an ofm format like machine setting ect.
look for the other file it should be there.

If your using these designs on an amaya I would not save in any format but OFM.

If your opening existing files adding text ect. and saving the two file are saved.

DS has done this since I have owned it V7 &V9

I don't see them at all and never have before until I started copying files from Win 7 to Win XP. That is strange to me. If they have always been there for some people I wonder why I have never seen them before.

I need the different formats. It sounds like the files are useless in other formats unless someone with an Amaya happens to run them. Not likely for my use. Is there a way to stop the files from being created?

No the PES file is what they need and DS saves them also.

Look in the place you originally saved them from DS,

I save in other formats all the time and move between windows 7, vista, and even a Mac with No problems.
