There is a way to change it in Design shop program, but I don't know about in Amaya OS or why you would want to-since it makes it harder to see colors in the design...
someone should jump in shortly that would know for sure. I've just never had the desire to change it in Amaya but have done it to simulate a different color material to show a client how it might look. Very limited 'backgrounds' in Designshop however-wish you had the ability to 'add' or customize colors....like putting in a 'real' blue denim color, etc.

Thanks for the reply. I knew about background changes in Design Shop, but I'd like to be able to change it in the Amaya OS. Its hard to see whats going on when working with white lettering on a white background. Also, would like to see a true representation of how the final design will look with accurate colors.

A trick I learned from setting up designs for screenprinting in my computer-I do this in designshop...any 'white' area/thread, make it the florescent 'green' (RGB color swatch) and whenever you see that-remember that it is 'white'. Makes it EASY to spot 'white' where it doesn't belong, see your overlap, etc. Only screws me up if I HAVE to use bright green in a design...LOL...
but I"ve been doing this substitution for years so I'm used to it.

Prior to OS7 you could change the color of the background. I did it all the time for exactly the reason you cited. [Just as in DS thread properties for thread color 0.] When OS7 came out I mentioned to Jeff that I could no longer change the background color and he told me they did not include that feature as not a lot of people saw the need for it. I tend to use Roland's solution for metallic thread as I have the system automatically do the thread tree sequencing (a lot of color changes on jacket backs!).
One other suggestion is to put the design in 3D. The system shows the threads better (not "white" against white).
