  • DS9 & windows 7 64bit

Looking to see if anyone else has had a similar problem with windows 7 64bit......

Just got a new computer with Windows 7 Premium 64bit.

Amaya OS and DS9 run fine as long as I run as administrator under vista compatabality mode.

    The problem:
    1. Windows file explorer does not show the thumbnails for my graphics files??
    2. Double clicking a graphic file from windows explorer displays a sharing error message, yet none of the apps are open??

I have cleaned the thumbnail cache, verified the file associations, unhide system files, etc...

These thumbnails view fine on my old PC with Windows 7 Permium 32bit.

Tech support just says my system hardware is not compatible and I just need to use my old slower machine or run Windows XP. That is not the right answer.

Anyone have any better ideas to try??

Well, first of all - you shouldn't have to run aos + ds 9 under vista compatability. They should just run under windows 7 as they did under vista.

I'll have to check to see if I can see thumbnails.

On the double click - are you trying to open the file directly that way rather than opening the program and browsing to the file?

    Just trying to understand.

Also - what version of 9 are you running.

I just went to mymelcoworld and found this info on the home page. It is from Mike Doe who tells you how to install for V7. http://www.mymelcoworld.com/profiles...-designshop-v9

      Hope this helps

Double click - I am trying to open the file directly that way rather than opening the program and browsing to the file. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the usb key?

As far as setup, I did similar what mymelcoworld suggested. One thing I did notice during install, but seems to work, is that the version of SQL it installed. Looks like it installed 2005 which has incompatabilities rather than the 2007/2008 version designed for windows 7.

for Thumbnails, I had a similar issue on my other 64bit computer with Adobe Reader. It turned out I needed a updated version casue of some shell extension not registering properly with 64bit. Wonder if thats the same issue with Melco?

Planning to purchase a PC or laptop with 64-bit. Do I need a CD to run Amaya OS in 64-bit?
