  • AOS Flex+ Force Download

In AOS V7 when the "Force Download" box was checked on the Internet tab, it stayed checked. It does not stay checked on AOS V9. Is it necessary to check this each time I restart (which is much more often than I used to due to prior post!) Thanks.

The operation of the Force Download setting has been changed for AOS v9. It is automatically disabled after one use. Force Download causes the CSA and RSA programs to be reloaded into the machines along with resetting the current state of the machine. Reloading these files causes the system to take much longer to start up. This is most noticable in multi machine setups. More importantly if Force Download is turned on you lose the ability to turn on the machine and continue sewing from where you left off. This prevents recovery of a design after an unexpected power failure.

On rare occasion a technician may ask you to turn on Force Download and restart your system. Otherwise if you aren't having any problems it should remain turned off.

On a side note. AOS compares the versions of the RSA and CSA stored on the computer with the versions currently loaded in the machine. If the version numbers do not match, when a new version is loaded for instance, AOS will automatically send the new files to the machine on startup.

      David,
No. Forced Download is meant to be off at all times. It is a tool that is used only to get you out of a "stuck state".
If this feature is left in the "on" mode, then your "Power Fail Rescue" will not work the way it's supposed to.
What this means to you beginners is:
If the lights go out while you are sewing, and "Forced Download" is turned on, when the lights come back on, the machine will not know where it was when it left off and you will have to figure it out for yourself.

Version 9 makes it so that you can't forget to turn it off because it turns it off for you after you use it.
