Where would a person be able to go for training to learn digitizing? I have done very little but am interested. I currently run Design Shop Pro Plus but have limited knowledge about digitizing.

Someone on this list just had some Helen Hart books for sale and she is great. I have lessons from Steve Young of Anita Gooddesign and John Deer of Adorable Affordables that are wonderful. You can google their web sites and see what they have to offer.Linda Webster
www.fancyneedles.com
[email protected]

Thomas Moore of Strawberry Stitch does extensive training. His software focus is Wilcom, but he has a great course for basic digitizing which is not software specific. Go to http://www.embroiderydesignschool.com/ to learn more.
I highly recommend him as an instructor. He is thorough from the basics to advanced digitizing.

Rod Springer will be approximately 8 hours away but well worth the trip. If time is a factor, and money is not, he might be able to visit you.
Rod is well versed in all levels of Design Shop and many different versions as well.
I have taught Rod many, many things.
Uh,.. I mean, I have learned from Rod, many, many things.
Seriously, Rod is your goto source.
If time is a factor, I personally have met with customers at some "mid point", say, a coffee shop, and spent the better half of a day with them explaining Design Shop. This way, you only pay for half the travel and the instructor's time. But keep in mind, if the training becomes lengthy, it would only be right to pay your instructor for a motel's stay rather than driving in the wee hours of the night falling asleep at the wheel.
Just offering up options.

I have taken two of Tom Moores classes when at Trade Shows (DAX - KC) I learned a lot and have been able to transfer that knowledge to Design Shop and my AMAYA, when I have any Qs I just come here and shout HELP!
It is a great comfort knowing there are ppl who have been there done that already and willing to help!!
Good Luck!

I purchased a download of 'Anatomy of a Design" by Lindee Goodall @ http://lindeegembroidery.com/
It's a pretty good book to get you started.

I teach free webinars on digitizing topics at embroidery.com. These are live demos in software demonstrating techniques for topics supplied by viewers. We're currently using Generations, but you should be able to adapt the techniques for your software. Anyone can attend the webinars. They are recorded and you can watch previous ones.
Thanks, Shirley for mentioning Anatomy of A Design. This ebook is sort of "pre-digitizing" but will help you understand a lot of terminology and concepts. It's required for my full digitizing course.
