  • Arrow Keys

We have Version 7 Design Shop Pro +. Is there a way to use the arrow keys on the keyboard to move designs and or elements in a design? I have searched "Help" and looked through the manual but have not found anything. And if not in 7 does Version 9 offer this? Not worth a upgrade for this but just curious.

    Thanks
    Curtis

We have Version 9 and I noticed that we can't use the arrow keys either, though I didn't look into it to see if you can by changing something in the settings. I just sort of accepted that we can't. There's way more in the software to figure out, I haven't had time to look into that.

I think it is Shift-Arrow that moves objects.

haha ok, that makes sense :-P

You know...there's a "Kohler Road" where I used to live...a lot of the roads around there were named after families that lived on the road years ago. You know of any relatives from New York? :-P

I just did a check, and David has it right, select your objects (Ctrl click for multiple objects) then
Shift and use your arrow keys for direction. If you hold the arrow key down-the objects will fly away like crazy, so just 'click' the arrow slowly to move things.
I did it in DS 9, but bet it works in DS 7.

And .... If you do shift-control-arrow (I think, trying to do this from virtualization), it jumps like ten times as far as a shift-arrow!!

            Havin' fun yet?!

              Guys, guys, guys.....

Select your object, stitch point, or entire design,...

              then

Shift + Arrow moves 1 point at a time
Shift & Alt together + Arrow moves 10 points at a time
Shift & CTL together + Arrow moves 100 points at a time

              Hope this helps,

THANKS Ed! I knew it was a combo of one or three of those keys and couldn't remember! I'm making a "post it" and keeping it nearby. Thanks again.

                    Curtis,
It's always been an "Ancient Chinese Secret".
                    No, seriously folks....

I'm sure it's in the manual somewhere but that can be tough reading without falling asleep. You know, like any manual of any kind.

This is what one gets when they go for classroom or on-site training. With me, this would fall in the second day of Design Shop training. Usually, beginners can't remember these commands and may not realize their value. I personally use the key board hot keys all the time.
