• Amaya OS 9 bug?

Tried this a couple times...sending a hat design and having to 'rotate it' using the 'F' button-it disappears. Gone...not just invisible but gone.
Have to go back into Design shop, rotate there-and resend it. Back in Amaya, the 'F' is now flipped, but the design (new one) is the way it belongs...
anyone else run into this?

Yes, I have also experienced what you describe.

Yes. I've found this happen when I re-load after an edit. If I reload again, it seems to be fine. It seems to me that it takes a really long time for Melco to fix their bugs.

I too have had this happen it actually went all the way back to version 7. Usually if you try to reload it again it will come back. I can tell you that the new beta release of version 9 is working much better.

I just got V9 with the XT tradeup-not sure if it is the beta version or what...but I find it so difficult to work with compared to V6/7 I reloaded my old design shop and with the speed of the new computer I'm getting designs done in a fraction of the time.
Haven't even bothered to fire up V9 yet to see what else goes wrong with it.

VER 9 definetely is different and there is a learing curve to go from 7 to 9 but once you learn it and its features I think you will like it. Split Satins sew way better and the auto deni=sity and underlay features work pretty good. The color sequencing is different and hard to getused to but I made myself use only ver 9 and now I have it down pretty good but there are some bugs and it does seem to crash alot. We are testing the newer version now with fixes and its improved so look gor the next update ver 9 users it should be alot better than the first release but don't give up on it cause they have done some things that work very well and improve your designs quite a bit.

Ill go back to my hole now. Its been so busy here I don't think Ive posted more than 5 messages the last few months Still lerking though so you haven't got away from me just yet

Hi,

New to this site. I'm really having issues with this Designshop V9 software. Never used software with so many problems (even MS). I noticed that some of you mentioned a beta version of a fixed version. Where might I find that? I currently have 9.00.074

Thanks!

If your computer has internet access go to tools/check for updates. You should be able to get .078 that fixed some of the issues. The beta group is working on .093 now. I have had only very minor issues with this one so with any luck they will publish it soon.

How do you find the update if the computer with DS and Amaya OS is NOT on line? Only my macs are allowed to play on the internet-not the PC's.
20 years and never a bug or a virus...and keeping it that way.

Roland,

Call Melco, have them send you a CD with the latest "update" ...they will charge you the frieght/postage...that is my understanding anyway....

Roland:

Here's what I think you should do. I know you aren't big about putting the machine on the net however...

Once every few months connect it.

Do not bring up a browser, email or any other program that hits the net.

Merely launch DS and AOS - do a check for updates. Download any updates. Remove network cable from machine.

If you are behind a router (which I believe you are) and if you are at least running windows firewall and defender, you should be ok. Would also recommend at least having something like AVAST or AVG Free Antivirus installed. This fall, Microsoft will have a free AV solution as well which should be fine for basic protection.

The other thing is - you REALLY should be updating the operating system periodically. If you are running vista, you can do this without even launching a browser by checking the control panel > system maitnence > windows update.

Without doing that - your machine will not be up to date, and you won't be able to take advantage of patches for security and performance updates.

Bottom line is if you aren't browsing on the machine, and you take the further step of disconnecting your computer from the network when not doing updates, your chance of getting infected (provided you keep the operating system up to date) are next to nothing.

The advantage of connecting once and a while for OS/DS updates and Windows Updates are worth it.

Anyway, like Rod said - you can get your updates via CD from melco, but it's inconvenient and will cost you a few bucks.

The only problem I have with the OS updates on line is that I install them but when I go to "about" it still shows the old version. I just paid for the upgrade to version 9 and to update it I would have to pay for another update to be sent to me. - mary

Mary,

UPGRADES are when you go from one version to another...7.00.xxx to Version 9.00.xxx for example.

UPDATES are patches/improvements/fixes or whatever name you want to put on it, to that particular version .

There is a charge for UPGRADES. There is no charge for UPDATES. Version 9 is the first one that will allow "updating" on the internet. If there is no internet capability, then having a CD mailed is possible but Melco will require that you pay postage. There is no charge for the UPDATE.

I usually just right click on the desktop icon and rename it to whatever update is the latest one. Not sure why the Icons do not bring forward the latest update number.....hasn't been a big enough issue to force me to remember to check into it.......

Thanks Rod, I got version 9 supposedly for free since it was within my first year, but the cost was more I would normally pay for postage or UPS. The same thing happened when I updated my Wilcom Deco Studio. I had to pay for shipping - $25 to ship one CD and I had only had it 6 months. I think I'll wait for the new beta one to update. BTW next time you are in north idaho, let me know as I would love to have my Big Red have a check up.

I wouldn't have a clue what a firewall and defender are...sounds like something I should have under the hood of my jeep!
Only my Macs are online-not even an ethernet cable to the side of the room where the amaya computer sits. I'm not even sure if that new computer is Vista..when it is opening up it has an icon/picture for Windows XP. Other than that, I'm lucky I can figure out how to turn it on and off.
I'll have Sue call Melco and find out about the CD update. We learned our lesson several years ago with the digital printer trying to get updates on-line. Something about the servor or phone lines used here-not a single download came through un-corrupted. Dealer rep, service tech, all came up with their laptops and tried-not one got anything. Even software updates for my macs-have to pay for the CD versions.
My old DesignShop is version 6, and that has worked fine for last couple of years without any updates so I'll cross my fingers and hope that we can get v9 to do the same.
