  • DS 9-can't change min. width value

Just got first chance to try DS 9 with the new XT, and I have to sew out a design from 2 years ago.
Went in to properties to see what is different between this and V7...and the 'min width' for columns is 0, no matter what I do. Type in new amount, hit apply-it goes back to 0. Type it in again (10) and go to save-back to zero.
I have all my old designs using this setting-and if they are all going to default to 0 it is going to screw up a lot of work!
Did check the ? Help (and only the ? on the toolbar responds-trying to use on in the window does nothing)and there is nothing new in there about changing it.
I really liked the 'old' properties window-much easier to navigate where you wanted to go compared to all the pulldown window game it seems to be now.

More problems...can't even change an outline to a complex fill-followed 'help' directions-right click, control click, etc. to get to the pulldown window and select 'complex fill', and nothing happens. Tried for half an hour to get one fill to match the first one and nothing.
At the point where it would save me time to just reload V7 and scrap the upgrade V9...I don't see any advantage to using it yet-not if it won't work! Also cannot get a 'new' part of the design as I create it to go into a color already there-like adding lines and fill areas as I build it. Each one gets it's own 'number' and I can't just drag and drop the pieces to move them around in the stitch tree like V7 does.
    Anyone got some suggestions?
I'm starting with a new design-not using an old one.
Did open a couple old ones to look at them for clues-and all the 'trim' commands are gone-jump stitches showing in the view all over the place. Does this mean we can't use v7 files without opening every one of them up and rebuilding the trims, etc.?

There are some revisions in beta now Roland - but I would suggest loading both (since you can do that now) and learning 9 as you go along. Be sure to send melco feedback on the issues you are having so they correct them.

Personally, I hate the new color selector for thread colors. It used to be easy just to up or down arrow in the window thru the colors and set them. Now I have to select the element, then select the color, then select the element, then select the color. The back and forth is a pain. There are a lot of great features and I think it's worth the upgrade but I don't know why they would have eliminated that little box with up and down arrows. It didn't take up much space, it still would fit in the window, and it would save on a bunch of mouse movement.

For now, I've reloaded V7 and used that-had the logo done up in ten minutes and first sewout test was perfect-that's a miracle!
BUT I wanted to pass this on-with the new XT and new programs, we did go for a new computer beefed up, faster processor, etc. We fired it up, and even with V7 Design Shop-it was like turbocharging the program! Program opens up almost as fast as you click the icon, design shop fired up before you can blink-and refreshing the image as you create, change, delete stitches is blazing fast. What a difference! So even though I can't use V9 yet-seems everything I"m trying to do is hung up in glitches...just upgrading the computer alone was worth it. I've never done anything so fast with the program. No long waits while changing the stitches around...and opening Amaya (V9) at the same time-didn't even make the speed burp.
When we get back from our Jeep Jamboree next week hopefully I can try playing with V9 Design shop and write down all the problems. ALso noticed with the upgrade-ton of new fonts show up! Not sure if they are resident in the computer or came with DS V9 and V7 can see them also.
