  • Help on a design, please

There is so much I do not know.
I have a digitizer that I like very much, but the company is very expensive. So, I have found another digitizer that has a set fee. This makes my customers happier. Here's my dilemma. I recently had a design digitized. It came in dst. There were NO trims. So, I asked for there to be trims added. When it came back, it still did not trim. When I complained, here is the response: ---
However, I have checked the dst file and the trims are indeed in there (in between the words only). You will want to check the trim settings in your software to make sure they correspond with those of the file we have created, or bypass using your software and put the file directly into the machine. ---- I will be very grateful for anyone who might tell me if the diagnosis is correct and what I might do to overcome the problem. I am using v7 DesignShop Pro+. Bill

Hi Bill...just open it in Design Shop, go into the 'stitch tree', and look for the trims. If you don't see them where you want them, and a test sewout shows they aren't there...then just click on the last item sewn before the trim you want, click the 'scissor' tool and insert your trims.
    Then find a new digitizer....
there are several mentioned frequently on the 'board' here-just do a 'search' for digitizers...and go from there. Several of them DO work in Design Shop so you get a compatible file. JUST MAKE SURE THEY GIVE IT TO YOU IN v.7 or you can't use it!

      Hi Bill,

I have to change my jump count to 2(3 is default). This helps me.

My knowledge is limited. I cannot see the "tree." It is not the same as if I had digitized it. I converted to wire frame, put in cuts at the right places, but then it started cutting after after few stitches. If I convert it to EXP, would that work?

Can't your digitiser give you the design in .exp?

I have found that some digitisers have not used the machines they create designs for and rely totally on their own experience with machines they have tested, which makes it difficult sometimes.

I digitise myself and have testers who use other brands of machine do some testing for me - this definitely helps me to understand what people with different types of machines are expecting to see.

Greg's suggestion looks to be a solution - sometimes if the setting for jumps is too long then the machine will interpret the spacing between the letters as a jump and ignore the trim that has been digitised.

Hope this may have helped understanding a little.
