V9 Locking up?

I am working on a big design and tried to get an element to change to Trapunto. It has been working on it for over 10 minutes now. Is there any way to get it to stop working on it? It says " Not Responding", but it may be just responding slowly. I hate to just sit here forever if nothing is going to happen.

Try doing a control-alt-delete-but don't "End" just X out of the display page in the upper right corner and see if that kick starts it.....

Has worked for me in several instances.....
