  • File Conversion

I'm having a real hard time dealing with file conversions, ie: jpeg;bitmap;tiff, ect. Is there any program out there that explains how to convert one to another? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What are you trying to do? You can easily convert from a bmp to a jpg. But if you are trying to "convert" from a bmp to an embroidery file like ofm, you are never going to be satisfied! Maybe with a vector file you will get a good result that doesn't require too much tweaking, but not with raster files. In fact, with a very good vector file you can get very good results. The problem is that there are precious few very good vector files out there. Sorry, that is the reality of it.

Go to File click on export then choose your file type. I use Corel 11 and tif is one of my available choices.

Oh great I was needing to know this also with Corel. I had just gotten Corel and had not really not used it yet.

FYI - PhotoImpact Pro is an inexpensive program that will convert many types of files. Tif/Tiff is included. There is a long list of file types that it will open and save. I have an older version #11 and I know that there is at least a version #13 now. The program does a lot of neat things and is not difficult to learn. About 4 years ago I only paid $59 at Sam's for it. A very good value for what it can do.

You may give GIMP a shot. It started in the Linux world but there is a windows installer and it's free. Wouldn't be suprised if it does the conversion.
