I believe there is a setting in the control panel for windows that can adjust mouse acceleration. That would be the amount of movement that pushes your mouse up or down, left or right. You should be able to play with your mouse settings so that it works well with dual monitors. I have never had to buy a special mouse to have things work just fine.

Ed and John,
Thank you, thank you. Found it. I wish I had known about that before. That certainly answers that question. Looks like I may be the only person on the list that did not know about that mouse speed adjustment in control panel. As always, I appreciate all help. I am determined to learn this new software and want to be sure that I make the correct purchase in computer hardware so that it will work it's best.
I loaded DS on my Amaya computer last night to check on the speed for digitizing. I purchased that computer just less than 2 years ago just for the Amaya and use it for nothing else. It is much faster than my Dell XPS that is 5 years old but I do have some questions there.
I found that when I do a change to density (for instance) to say, 20 very small satin stitch elements, it seems like it takes a long time for the change to be made. With DS7 on that computer it happened instantly. Now my question. For my computer is this how the DS9 software works? Is it a RAM issue? Is it a processor speed issue? Is it a software issue (XP Professional vs Vista)?
Amaya computer is:
Intel core 2 Duo Processor 1.86 GHz, 1066FSB 4MB cache
2 GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667 MHz
XP Professional
The above computer was plenty fast for DS7 but not for DS9. Any advice welcomed.

That spec shouldn't have any issues running things... honestly. The only think you don't mention is what your video specs are.
I wonder if hardware acceleration or video drivers might be holding you back.
Is this new or have you had it a while?
One thing you might consider doing a system restore to the factory state, updating XP with all the updates, and then only installing ds 9 and seeing how it goes. About every 2 years, I wipe my system to get rid of all the crap that accumulates and to get things running fresh again.
Adding more ram is always good but 2gb should be fine in XP with DS9. I am running it on a slower processor with about the same amount of ram fine.John Yaglenski

I purchased it late June of 2007 just for the Amaya. The video card is NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE at least I hope that is a description of the video card.
I have the hardware acceleration turned off in DS9, is that the hardware acceleration that you mean or is it another one?
If this computer can be fine tuned to work ok then I may only need a new video driver and extra monitor. I just want to make the correct decision before purchasing. I tend to stay with things a long time and like to research what to purchase before buying. The DS software is fussy about what it wants so I want to get it right. I noticed in looking at new computers that many of the faster ones are 64 bit. It does pay to be careful.
Thank you so much for your advice.
