Using Design Shop ProPlus 7.00.114 and all of a suddent I'm having design elements appear as invisible on the screen! They are in the design tree, no color is X'd out at the bottom from the palette....the element just does not show up on the screen. I have to exit out of DS entirely then go back in. This happens all day long yesterday and today; have never had the problem before. Ideas?

design elements disappearing!

I too would be interested in any other experiences like this. I have battled this problem since day one and also have Design Shop Pro Plus. It happens repeatedly over a couple weeks then stops for a while then happens again. I have to save, exit, reopen and start working again and then it happens yet again.April Williams
Game Day Designs
[email protected]

I have had this problem since day one with Design shop pro plus as well. I even talked with Tech support about it and they sent me out a newer version which I loaded but it did not make a difference. They then suggested it had something to do with my computer. But I can't figure out what or why. If someone has a fix for this I would be very gratefula as well.

Does this happen after you have clicked an element 'off' to work on something-and then click it back on and it's invisible? I get this occasionally...
and usually I can just 'click' it in the tree, and it comes back.
Or, go to the color bar, click that color, change it, the image should magically appear-then change the color back. It's a 'hiccup' in the program that I don't see for weeks and then suddenly it's back and random. As long as you can 'see' the stitches in the stitch tree you know it's there.
Also, anytime you are working on a design...SAVE it often. Make a couple changes, SAVE. Play with color selections, SAVE. Then you know it is there for sure. But I have not had to exit, reopen, etc. since I figured out clicking in the tree or just changing the color. It's like 'burping' the poor thing and it comes back.

I haven't had design elements disappear (unless I haven't noticed they were gone), but my font icon disappears and doesn't come back until I reboot, and then it disappears as soon as I start using the DS. Now I just use the keyboard to open up my lettering dialog box. No one has been able to reply on that either. I'm disappointed that the newer version you were sent didn't fix the disappearance act. Will stay tuned to see if any answers come around this time.

I will definitely try your suggestions Roland. I am curious to see if this is my problem as well. The design always reappears when I exit then re-open it.
My computer has mega amounts of memory and an upgraded video card and it is only devoted to my Amaya. I don't even have the internet on that computer. Absolutely nothing except my Amaya. I have re-installed the program a couple times as well. That was the first thing I checked on when I started having this problem.April Williams
Game Day Designs
[email protected]

Oh, GF - I also have that problem and finally just resolved to go the long way to open my lettering as well.April Williams
Game Day Designs
[email protected]

I know that nobody wants to here it but this is a software FLAW!!
there is no reason that with the Power of any computer since 2000 that DS should need the resources that Melco say it needs
Other then POOR PROGRAMING!!
they need to get with the times and refine their program.
when a graphics processing program can run without flaw and all of their competitors can they should not have the problems and be able to just write them off to our computers.
they bare some if not most of the blame for these comflicts.

I have had this problem from time to time. While I can't pin it down, it seems to start when I am resizing or adjusting the underlying bitmap image in the design, but that may be just a coincidence.
I recently purchased a program called "Driver Detective". I was having problems with another graphics intensive program locking up from time to time without explanation.
It detected 29 out of date drivers on my system, including both the audio and graphics drivers. I fixed those and have not had problems since.
I guess I can understand the position of the programmers as well. If the program were fundamentally flawed, then every computer would have the same problems with program, and the problems would likely not be intermittent (or so the logic goes).
I would be interested in learning from this thread on this particular issue which brand and model of video card people with this problem are using?

Right click on the 3D button. In the 3D properties window, turn off the "3D Hardware Accelerator" feature. Then click OK.
See if this doesn't help out.

You know, it occurred to me yesterday that all my DS problems started AFTER a tech had me uninstall and reinstall the OS. Could the problems be stemming from installing the OS after DS was already on the computer? Do I need to try uninstalling the DS and then reinstall it?
Just a thought. I had a highly detailed image to digitize yesterday and had to close out of DS after every 2-3 moves/changes/new elements. Ended up taking me nearly the entire day to do just one design.Janet
Fabrications by design, Inc.
269-273-8495
[email protected]

Perhaps the problem is in the file you are trying to digitize? If you are trying to digitize a .bmp file, try changing it to a .jpg first. No idea if this would help but a .jpg should use less of your system memory.
I would also try opening a graphic that you have done before without problem and try digitizing it again and see if the problem changes or goes away.

We uninstalled and re-installed Design Shop, so it is again technically installed AFTER the OS...and the problem is now fixed! I guess that was the issue all along.Janet
Fabrications by design, Inc.
269-273-8495
[email protected]
