  • failed to save error.

I spent 7 hours on a design yesterday. Opened it today and it was there but only in the first stages, mostly the first hour of work. Then every minute or so (I have auto save set for a minute) I got a windows error message saying "Failed to save document".

I did save this as a bitmap for my website before I logged. Anyone else seen this sort of thing? I will miss a deadline that I promised and I am sad

I occasionally get a "Failed to save document" error message. It seems ti happens when I try to save and already saved file to a remote computer. I just save to a different file name and then it does save.

One minute interval for saving I consider way too close. Every five minutes would be fine. And I have occasionally had the program close down unexpectedly. But 5 min is nothing to redo.

I don't like the auto save because you can never go back to an earlier version because it is always overwritten. I save to a new file name so all the old versions are there to fall back on if I need to.

Back a few years this was a real problem in Design Shop for me...lost all kinds of artwork and changes-and then started testing it-making a change in satin line width for example, saving it, sending it to sew, then going back in design shop-and the changes were gone again!
Techs said it was impossible to do that...until I sent them one of the files and my gosh...happened to them.
Not sure what the fix was, but ever since then-when I am digitizing OR fixing a design, as soon as I make any changes and can stop-I 'save' as 'ClearCutz_2', ClearCutz_3', etc.-and it always saves. Then I can always back up a step if needed if a change didn't work-or if I forget what I was doing previously!
Once I get a good final design, I save it as 'ClearCutz_final' and delete all the other versions.
