  • Design shop on Vista

Eek! I just tried to install Design Shop on my new Vista computer. I think I just killed my dongle.
When I started up the install dialog, I selected the Amaya OS, Design Shop and ENS from the list. It prompted me to remove the security key, etc, so I ensured they weren't inserted. Then when it asked me to insert a key, it was not specific as to which one. I inserted the Design Shop key first and Windows did it's thing with recognizing the USB device and installing the driver. The Melco install said it wasn't the right key, so I inserted the OS key and Windows did its thing again. The install just went away, and nothing was installed.
I've rebooted, tried just installing DS, and it asks for the security key, then goes away when I insert it and select OK. So I tried to install it on an XP computer, and the same thing happens.
Is there any hope? Do I need to call tech support?
    Boo hoo!

Good news! My dongle isn't dead! Yeay!
I am still trying to recover on the Vista computer, but I've got it installed on another one and it works.

I recently bought a new PC with Vista Premium with 64-Bit OS and unfortunately, Design Shop and Amaya OS softwares do not support 64-bit. Your PC must have 32-bit OS. I went through the same thing you did and the software and dongle keys would not install unless it was 32-bit. Luckily, I had an extra laptop with 32-bit and Design Shop and Amaya OS are working great.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thanks. Lucky for me my Vista OS is 32-bit. I have recovered from the trauma. Vista, bless its heart, found an updated driver for the dongle at Sentinel's website. I installed that and was then able to install the software. Yeay!

Design shop works fine on Vista 64 bit. Been running it on there for about 2 months.

Yeah, I only run DS, not AOS. Gone are my days of playing machine jockey while digitizing. It's nice just doing the job of one person now.

Design Shop yes, AOS, no. If you plan to run both on the same computer, 32 bit is your only choice vista wise.

Vince, what version of DesignShop are you trying to install? Also, do you have the 32 bit or 64 bit of Vista?

Well just to contradict my earlier post, DesignShop Pro+ on VISTA 64bit has started acting up.
As I go through to open a file, I can get it to the explorer window, scroll a couple file rows and then, bam I get a DS has stopped working and will shut down. And it does!
I have elminated temps in the program files but not luck. Looked for app data or program data under users, but haven't seen any.
Anybody got any suggestions, besides installing DS on an old XP?

Our service tech was just here last week, and I'm pretty sure I remember him saying something about V9 working only with Vista 32, not Vista 64?
I'm a mac man so it doesn't mean anything to me...we're still chugging along with DS 6 and OS 7 I think...haven't upgraded in 3 years since the Big Red runs fine as it is...

Do you have "Hardware Accelleration" disabled? If not "RIGHT" click on the "3D" icon and uncheck it. This may be affecting your program. It is recommended to disable this in AOS and DS........
