  • slimline center lines views differ in OS and DS

When a design is loaded in OS showing hoop centered, have you noticed that the view in OS shows a different center than the DS view?

Both views are with the design supposedly centered in the same hoop. It only occurs when using slimline clamp system.
Is this normal or a bug?
    Just curious.

Yes, I have noticed. And I've had problems with the hoop definitions of the slim lines. I'm not convinced it is or isn't something I'm doing, but it has only happened with the slim lines. The machine appears to get confused and doesn't move the frame out to the right position. It seems to think the center is somewhere else, like at the back of the frame. And sometimes it moves to the right position where the needle is centered but trace doesn't understand.

I seem to be the only person having this problem, so all fingers point at me. One day a big duh will emerge, but for now...I have no clue what is happening.

Anita, your problem sounds suspiciously like my issue with the biggest hoop. I still haven't resolved that one. When the light flashes on (in your head) and you resolve your issue, please tell me what you did.

      Thanks much,

Yes, I remember when you posted that. I was experiencing the problem live at the time. I called Melco, but don't know that I was taken seriously.

I'll let you know if I positively figure out what's going on. What I have noticed is it seems to happen if the last design I stitch before I shut down is using a slimline. Then it's confused when I start back up the next time.

Just as a precaution, I always remove my slimline from the machine if I turn it off. I don't want it's confusion to hit the needles or head when it starts back up. Much easier than having to call a tech. Margaret

Oh, yea. That can't be emphasized enough. I usually have to learn things the hard way, but I've heard enough horror stories re: leaving it on that I feel like I've already experienced that mistake myself. In fact, with only one machine, I just make it a practice to take any hoop off before shutting down. I've got to get to the hook to oil next time anyways.

            Thanks for the reminder...

              Thanks for all the comments.
If I use a "regular" Amaya round hoop the center is centered.
Changing from slimline to Amaya hoops brings the center back to center. As soon as I load a slimline again the issue reappears, with the need to move the hoop manually into position.
