Has anyone use the CCF/WAD on an XT?

That is the old style hat hoop with the green plastic coating? I got that one and it is sooooo easy to use! I just got one and the hooping is so fast that I am reluctant to get another. No need.

I took the bill clamp of the new 180 deg hat hoop that came with my machine and put it on the CCF/WAD. Then it holds the bill back from getting scraped. My friend just gave me a very simple bill cover to protect the bill from getting scrape marks. It is just two pieces of tough material that is sewn in the shape of a crescent moon that you simply slip over the bill. I haven't tried it out yet, but it sure looks like it would work. The only thing that I think it wouldn't prevent is if the corner of the stainless V bent guard goes out beyond the edge of the bill and catches it. Then it would probably try to yank the hat out of the hoop. This would be when using the new 180 deg hoop.

I do most hats with only a front design, so the old hoop is perfect. But when I have designs on one or both sides then I have to use the new hoop. And I really don't like the new hoop!

I have some flex fit type caps that are being difficult. Thought I would try the older hoop but wanted to run it on the XT rather than my big reds. Just wondering if anyone has had issues with the combination.

I have done flex hats and have never had a problem. Don't know if my hats are different or what. I use the old hoop and just hoop it. I do put a little pressure on the bottom, pulling it down a bit so the top is nice and smooth. I have never had any special problems with it, but have heard that others do.

I have both the WACF and CCF and prefer the CCF on my XT. As it has been noted it is MUCH easier to hoop/use. The only thing I would say is watch it when sewing low profile hats as the hooping takes a little more care and you need to keep your design shorter.

I had a few of these hats "pop" the hoop from the clamp which caused registration problems. Trashed a couple of hats before I figured out the cause.

Ditto for me, I rarely sew anything but Flexfit hats. I use the old CCF/WAD hat fixture and never have any problems. I couldn't sew any hats with the WACF. I only sew structured hats though and that may be the difference, haven't tried unstructure yet. But I have sewn some visors and they were fine.
