  • Something happened!

All of a sudden this morning DS isn't working properly. When I try to digitize, using the fill, I can no longer click my way around an object. It wants me to click and HOLD and drag the curser around to describe the object. Then when I let go I can put my in, and then my out, the the direction. What in the world has happened to my click, click, click around an object? And this is true of every tool to digitize!

when you find out HOW it is doing that, let me know! That's the way the line tool works in my Freehand (Mac) program and I"ve always wanted Design Shop to do the same thing...makes it so much easier to 'trace' an image to digitize!

      Juli, Roland,

Juli, check to see if you have the "Free Form Digitizing Mode" icon is highlited in your upper toolbar. It is right next to the "Edit Mode" icon on the left side of the screen. It sounds as if you have this selected and al you need to do is left click on the icon to go back to standard way of click, click, da clickity clicking you are used to.

This may be the same tool you are refering to, altho, I find it difficult to freehand outline using a mouse with this tool. It would work great with one of those pen setups that you point and touch for digitizing with....

The Freehand looks difficult but the Bezier mode probably wouldn't be too bad once you got used to it. I think the EDS3 Digitzing mod3e is the one you want to switch back to Juli. Its on the same toolbar as where you select the type of stitch you want to use ie walk, column, fill.

          I have the Solution!!!

I did have the Freeform Digitizing Mode activated.. Trouble was I could not deactivate it and at the same time activate ANY digitising tool. It would automatically go back to the FreeForm thing.

So, I called Melco and talked to Mark. He said that if any of you have this problem and my instructions here don't get you out of it, feel free to call him. So, Here goes --- This is the Solution:

          Close DS
go to start and click on RUN
type in regedit and click OK
          find Melco/designshop
click on defaults and DELETE that folder.
Click back onto Melco and hit the minus to close up the listing of subdirectories.
X out of that screen and open DS. That's it - you are back in business.

I think that if you had any other defaults changed, that you will have to redo them again as everything just got wiped out.

What a relief!!! And I swear that I did not do anything to make it go wammy on me!

Roland, if I were you I would rename the defaults folder in your MAC because no one is sure that this will work on a MAC. But renaming the folder allows you to recover it if it doesn't work. I don't have a MAC and Melco doesn't support it, but it is worth a try. Let us know if it works and maybe let Melco know too.
