  • Trim/Connectors

I just got a file from a digitizer who uses Wilcom and sends .EXP files. When I open the file with DesignShop Pro+ there are long connector stitches all over the place and not placed well. When I complained, I was told that there are trims set and there are no connector stitches in the design. I converted the file to wire frame and sure enough, the trims are there. However, when converting to wire frame, the stitch count went from 7.6K to 9.5K and the design looks (and sews) much more poorly than the .EXP file. I turned off the "View Connectors" but they were still there. I set the trim if connector greater than to a small number and they still would not go away. Then the digitizer sent me a .DST file to try. This had the same results. Is there any way to find these trims in the .EXP file? The OS is set to trim on a jump count of 3. Thanks.

    David,
Your not going to stop seeing your connector stitches unless there is actually a trim inserted into the design file. In the project view, click on the stitches tab at the bottom.
Hit Ctrl & F. A Find box will pop up. Select jump stitch and hit next. This will take you thru the design and hit all of the jump stitches. My digitizer sets 3 jumps for a trim. I go to the first set of 3 jumps and manually set a trim. This will cause the connector that you see on the screen disappear. I go thru the whole design and insert actual trims. It also makes it easier for me to find elements of the design if I need to.
As to the converting a .dst file to .exp they are never going to be the same. It is just like using 2 different digitizers for the same job. More often than not, they won't be the same either.

Thanks, Debbie. I never had to get into an EXP file before. I found that there were two jump stitches where a trim should go, so I just set the OS to trim at two jump stitches instead of the default of three. Now it works!
