  • Microsoft Office Accounting Express 2008

Does anyone have any experiences good or bad with this program?

We have been doing our accounting with Quicken Home & Business for years but it's time to upgrade.

It's either Quickbooks 2008 Simple Start or possibly go with Microsoft Office Accounting.

We aren't going in import any old data - rather start fresh and back enter to Jan 1 so we don't really need the normal Quickbooks 2008 over the simple start version and this Microsoft product is FREE for the express version which seems to do what we need.

    Thoughts?

Quickbooks! Your accountant probably already uses Quickbooks, too.

I have used the free Microsoft Accounting 2007 for several months now and I really like it. It is a powerful program yet easy to learn. I like that I can quote and then transfer it to an order/invoice. If one needs inventory capabilities then one would need to purchase the upgrade. It has a chart of accounts and it can be customized for the business needs. It also has online bill paying features. I have not used all the functions yet...I am still learning the program but it has not disappointed me yet.

Quickbooks. I finally got mine installed and set up. I had a certified QB advisor spend a couple of hours with me. I made some mistakes in my initial set up, so she set me straight. I have a good clean start and find QB very easy to use. I use QB in my 'other' job, but only on the AR side. I had never set up a company from scratch.

I agree Quickbooks! I have 2007 Pro and love the fact I can keep track of inventory and able to send quotes/invoices via email really easily as well.

If you look on Ebay you can get it cheaper then through the stores or their own site. Just make sure your not buying the educational version...

So John, what did you end up going with? Quickbooks Simplestart or MicroSoft? I've downloaded both and am interested to hear your comments.

                We went with quickbooks.

Simplestart is pretty much the same program as quickbooks full (less some features which you can always add in later) but doesn't allow you to import existing data. So, if you've made a resoltion to start entering stuff from scratch, it's hard to go wrong. Download it online, don't "buy" it in the stores.
