  • design shop conflicts?

Since I installed design shop, amaya os, icon generator, embroidery simulator and ens my windows explorer will not function. When I attempt to open explorer it gives me an error message and shuts down. Last time this happened I found something that was conflicting with it and corrected it. The only thing that I can think of that might be conflicting is the icon generator but I don't seem to be able to find a way to uninstall just that. I am using windows xp. Any one else ever have this problem?

What was installed last? You should never install another software "after" you have installed any of Melco's software--it somehow overrides the registry. If you do, uninstall the Melco software and do a clean reinstall. Also, you do not want to install the embroidery simulator if you are installing Design Shop and Amaya OS. ENS is the old software for Melco's older machines. If you have the Amaya, you won't need it either.

I installed the amaya os, designer shop and then the others. So I can just uninstall the ens and the simulator? I wasn't sure what I needed so I installed them all. Thanks, Cheryl

To be safe, I would go into "My Computer", "Add or Remove Programs" and once you get your list of programs, delete each one separately that is a Melco program--all of the ones you installed. Then insert your CD and install everything but the simulator and ens (OS, Design Shop, Thread Conversion, etc.). Reboot your system and you should be good to go.

Thanks, I think I'll do that but first I think I'm going to back up my emb files. I'm just afraid that since it converted most of them to melco files that it just might delete them all and then I would be upset. Thanks again for all the help. I'll let you know how it went. ck

Just an update on the design pro conflict. My son the IT person took a look at it and said it was the sewiconz that was installed. We uninstalled it and reinstalled without adding the jpg files for it to convert and so far everything is working well. Thanks for all the help. Ck.
