  • Artwork conversion

    Good day everyone!
Can anyone assist me in getting artwork attached to an email as .ai file (adobe illustrator) converted to a .eps or .cdr file? I have Corel and it won't open it. The only way I can get it to open is with Adobe reader but then I can't do anything with it, such as edit or cut and paste. I tried opening it with design shop but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions?

Cindy, I'm going to be at my computer for another half hour or so...if you can send the file fast to me I'll see what I can do for you.
Illustrator CS3 is pretty good at opening anything...and if I convert it to illustrator eps it will go right into Design shop with no problem.

      Cindy,
The person who sent you the AI file needs to save it as a back version...preferably version 7.0. You can then import it into CorelDraw version 8 and above.

        Cindy,

If you take the AI file into Design Shop it is also best to save the file as a back version as well because software releases between DS, AI or CDR are usually behind at least one version release. We have found CorelDraw version 8.0 is best for DS(Design Shop).

          All,
Thank you for your help on this. I went back to the graphics company and requested they save the design in an earlier version of .ai and resend. I was then able to open in it in my corel software.
