Line Conditioner

When I took my 4 day class the instructor said we should purchase what she called was a line conditioner, she said that was probably not what it is called if I went shopping for it , it was a small black box under each computer in the class, I talked to Best Buys and they don't seem to know what Iam asking for, Iam getting interference on my line.tha I hare with someone else, does anyone use something like this and the correct name for it.

Line conditioner is the correct term for it. You spoke to a dufas at Best Buy. They should know what it is. If you have a local computer store (Comp USA or Compuserve) or something like that it would be a better source.

The line conditioner stabilizes the electrical current to reduce power fluctuations. When you couple that with an Uninteruptable Power Supply, you get extremely stable current. Good for the machines. Get one.

I have a APC UPS from Best Buy which I paid around $75 for. It has a $75,000 warrenty and a 45 minute backup for computers. The power flashes a lot during thunderstorms here and I never had a problem with the machine. The power went off a couple weekends ago on a sunny day for no known reason and the machine kept humming along until I finished that design then I shut the machine down. Of course, 3 minutes later the power comes back on.
I also have a couple lights which turn on when the power goes out so I can see in the dark ($10 each at Home Depot)
We really don't have many power issues here but after a hurricane came through Maryland 3 years ago, I stocked up to prepare for the power to be out for days but it wasn't [img]smile.gif[/img]

You can also pick them up at Staples and I went in and ask for a battery backup w/line conditioner.

Carolyn, you bought what I have to protect my equipment. Works very well. You have a very big APC, mine runs 30 min after power outage. Just need time to power down.

Mine is a BE750BB (also uses part number ES-750) by APC. It has a 70 minute run time for computers and a $75,000 protection but I do not know how long for embroidery machines. I only have the embroidery machine plugged into it and nothing else. I have a seperate APC 550 model for the computer. It has plenty of power to keep the machine running until I finish the design I'm working on so I can safely turn the power off. The power flashed off and on several times in December including going out completely for about 10 minutes (right in the middle of the Christmas rush.) Luckily, the machine kept going without missing a beat.
