  • DS/OS Design Over-writing / Deleting Changes

I installed the latest version of OS and have found that I can no longer make minor edits in OS. When I click "edit" my Design Shop Pro+ opens.

Not a big deal, but if I happen to be editing design "A" and sewing design "A" I have problems.

    Here's what happened.

*Loaded design "A" to OS and began sewing.
*Started editing design "A" in DS while still sewing.
*Stopped sewing because of thread issues and decided to "reload and reset" design "A" in OS.
    - I saved my work on design "A" that I had completed in DS and closed the design in DS
    - I didn't like the alignment of design "A" in OS, so I clicked "edit" in OS and the design opened in DS.

At this point I had two versions of the same design. One was saved the other came from OS.

I moved the design as I wanted it and sent it back to OS. At this point, my saved version of design "A" was over-written with the OS version of design "A" and all my changes were lost. About 45 minutes of work, but lots of details.

Why did this happen, and how do I prevent it from happening again?

I'm still running 'older' OS and haven't run into your problem, but I learned way back that whenever I do any editing, even while the design is sewing out and I'm making corrections for the next one-NEVER save the 'same' design.
Add a number or letter to it- "Lou_Autobody1, Lou_Autobody2, etc.
Thatway if your correction is worse than the original, you still have the original untouched.
And if something goes wrong-the original is still there.
Once you get a final version that works, go into your file and delete all the old ones. I've done up to 15 revisions of some logos before I got it right.

I do the same thing, but I can't believe the file was over-written from OS. Serious software FUBAR on Melco's part if that is the case. I'm going to revert back to my previous OS version, just too frustrating!
