Not seeing alphabets

This dilemma resulted from a long involved drama which my son summed up as follows: "Do not go into business with family unless you're organized crime."
Our original XT is at my stepson's (big mistake and I am waiting for my husband to "retrieve" it). We have the dongles for that machine and our 2nd XT with demo software dongles.
The demos are running out in a couple of days. When I put the original dongles in, only a few alphabets show in the alphabet window. What could this be? All the alphabets show up with the demo dongles.
I can't call tech support until Monday but I think my demo software will run until then.

Thanks - I will do that. I did not install anything since the demo - just plugged the original dongles in.

Thank you to everyone who helped me with the alphabets. I only had to install them, not the whole software package.
